|The 11th Bude & Stratton Folk Festival|
26-29 May 2017
Cornish and Devon Post Report
Late May Bank Holiday weekend saw and heard the eleventh Bude & Stratton Folk Festival, focused around the Falcon Hotel, the Rugby Club and St Michael’s church. It was a very successful event, and attendance was better than ever, with a good take-up of local hotel rooms and bed and breakfast places.
There were starring performances from Ange Hardy and Lukas Drinkwater, Jim Moray, Si Barron, Reg Meuross, Geoff Lakeman, the Sam Kelly Trio and The Dambuskers.
Friday night thunderstorms kept many awake and gave a spectacular lightning show, but left the Bark House Green very wet, so the children’s Maypole Dancing was moved to the Park House Centre, where Kate Tidball and her team of local schoolchildren gave a charming display.
The organising committee would like to thank the Bude Town Council and Bude’s Cornwall Councillor for their grants to the festival, and to all at the Falcon Hotel, the Rugby Club and St Michael’s church for their tireless support.
This year - weather permitting - we have a Fringe Event in a garden on the wharf opposite the Falcon.
It features booked guests & other artists in a relaxed, free, venue.
You will be able to sit, with your coffee, ice cream or lunch & listen to good music & song.
The fringe programme is on the 'programme' page.
N.B. the fringe is not the same as the open-mic sessions in the church. They are ‘come-all-ye’ for anyone wishing to perform.

The guest list is now complete.
I'm afraid we can accept no further proposals for Guest or Fringe artists.
Campsite Security. We have met our local police beat manager to review campsite security and have more meetings planned. We will have new security policies, measures and advice in place for next year's festival.
